We will begin our tour of Georgia by getting to know the capital. Tbilisi is the oldest capital in the Caucasus and one of the oldest in the world. The city was founded more than 2500 years ago, and in the 5th century, King Vakhtang Gorgasali moved the capital here. Cozy streets, ancient temples, unique nature in the city center, houses nestled on the edge of a cliff, all this will not leave you indifferent, and a fascinating story, colorfully told by our guides will immerse you in the bright diversity of fabulous Tbilisi.

After the excursion, a 17th-century cellar awaits you. A local sommelier will introduce you to different varieties of Georgian wines and chacha, and will strictly monitor that you taste as is customary in Georgia – to the bottom. After an appetizer, we will climb Mount Mtatsminda on the funicular, from where a panorama of the entire capital opens. Then free time. In the evening, a traditional Georgian dinner with a folklore program awaits you.

Day 2

Kakheti

On this day we will go to the main wine region of Georgia – Kakheti.

The first stop is the Bodbe Monastery, where the baptist of Georgia St. Nino rests. The monastery is famous for its gardens and stunning views of the Alazani Valley. Then we will visit the pearl of Kakheti, the ancient city of Sighnaghi. The city of love. The registry office here is open 24 hours a day, and therefore this cozy town has become a favorite of couples in love from all over the world. Through the Alazani Valley we will go to western Kakheti, to the palace of the princes Chavchavadze. On the territory of the estate, in the 19th century, the first wine factory was opened for the production of wine using European technology, i.e. bottling. The factory is still operating, so you will have a tasting of red and white wines.

Then we will head to the capital of the region – the city of Telavi. Here one of the few royal palaces of Georgia has been preserved. You will get acquainted not only with the royal life but also with the ethnography of Kakheti. After that, a royal dinner awaits us at a peasant farm, where the owner of the house will tell you about the traditional Georgian production of wine in qvevri (clay jugs), this technology was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.

Return to Tbilisi.

Day 3

Jvari Monastery – the ancient capital of Mtskheta – Svetitskhoveli Cathedral + wine tasting

On this day we will visit the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta. In the Orthodox world, Mtskheta is considered the second Jerusalem. First of all, we will go to the monastery of the cross. The temple now standing over the cliff was built in the 6th century. It was on this place that St. Nina erected the first cross in Georgia. These places are described in Lermontov’s famous poem “Mtsyri”.

Then we will go to Mtskheta. The Svetitskhoveli Temple, towering over the entire area, contains five shrines – the Tunic of the Lord, the relics of Andrew the First-Called, the cloak of the prophet Elijah, a piece of the cross erected by St. Nina and a well with healing water. Svetitskhoveli is one of the two main tombs of the Georgian kings.

Here in Mtskheta, a traditional Georgian feast awaits you. Then we will visit one of the oldest wineries in Georgia, owned by the princes Guramishvili. You will taste wines from local grape varieties Kisi and Mtsvane. After that, we head to Kutaisi. Accommodation at the hotel. Walk through the historical center of the city.

Day 4

Uplistsikhe Cave City – Stalin’s House Museum

This day we will go to a unique place, Uplistsikhe cave city, carved into the rocks more than three thousand years ago. This is the only ancient city preserved on the territory of Georgia. This is the place, stories about which will not give any impression, it must be seen. Uplistsikhe is located near the city of Gori – Stalin’s birthplace. And of course we will visit the leader’s museum, where his personal belongings are kept, his personal railway carriage and the house in which he was born is preserved. After that we will go to a farm in the Ateni gorge, also associated with the name of Stalin. The leader was delivered wine made in this gorge from a local grape variety. The owner of the house will tell you stories associated with the leader and treat you to the same kind of wine that Stalin loved. Our day in the Ateni Gorge will end with a Georgian feast.
