Excursion to the Old City – Icheri Sheher A mysterious walking tour of the Old City, which has preserved both its fortress walls and narrow cobbled streets to this day… It was here that episodes of such famous Soviet films as “The Diamond Arm”, “Amphibian Man”, “Aibolit – 66”, “Tehran 43” were filmed. Our excursion will begin at the main entrance to the Old City – the Paired Gates. There we will get to know the history and architecture of medieval Baku better. We will visit caravanserais, learn about the structure of medieval baths, and climb the legendary Maiden Tower. You will be able to see the Shirvanshahs’ Palace, mosques, the house-museum of miniature books, as well as the mysterious workshop of Ali Shamsi Lunch at one of the national restaurants (payment on site) Next, we will: Excursion to the Gala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex. On the territory of the reserve, which covers 156 hectares, there are burial mounds, crypts, houses, 4 structures for storing water, ruins of an ancient castle, 5 mosques, 3 baths, etc. dating back to the period from the 3rd millennium BC to the 20th century. In order to preserve these monuments, as well as further enrich the reserve with archaeological finds discovered in Absheron, the first open-air archaeological and ethnographic complex was created here in 2008 with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The museum complex occupies 2 hectares of territory.   Excursion to the Ateshgah Fire Worshippers Temple The Ateshgah Temple of Eternal Fire is a truly exotic place in Azerbaijan. It is known almost all over the world. It is located 30 km from the center of Baku, on the outskirts of the village of Surakhani. This area is known for such a unique natural phenomenon as burning natural gas outlets (gas, escaping, comes into contact with oxygen and ignites). In its modern form, the temple was built in the 17th-18th centuries. It was built by the Hindu community of the Sikh caste living in Baku. However, the history of the Ateshgah Temple is much more ancient. Since ancient times, a sanctuary of Zoroastrians – fire worshipers was located on this territory (approximately the beginning of our era). They attached mystical significance to the inextinguishable fire and came here to worship the shrine. After the adoption of Islam, the Zoroastrian temple was destroyed. Many Zoroastrians went to India and continued their faith there.    A trip to the Yanardag (Burning Mountain) Nature Reserve Yanardag is one of the most amazing natural attractions of the Absheron Peninsula. It is a mountain slope engulfed in flames that cannot be extinguished by rain or sand, burning for several millennia. The frightening and at the same time fascinating fiery landscape is actually explained very simply: natural gas is released from the upper layers of the soil, which turns into flame when in contact with oxygen. The reserve also includes the Gyrmeki mud volcano, oil wells in the Gyrmeki valley, the Wolf Cave, the Gavaldashi megalith complex and several cemeteries that are over 1000 years old. And at the end of the tour, we will have dinner in one of the restaurants in the village of Novkhany, where you can try Jorad kutaby – kutaby made from camel meat, greens and lamb Transfer to the hotel
