MADRASAH AMIR-TUR

Right among residential buildings, not far from Ichan – Kala (within northern part of it) is famous madrassah Amir – Tura. The mosque was built in nineteenth century by Mohammad Rahim Khan’s brother and had been named after him. Main facade of construction is decorated with high portal, which represents an octagonal niche. Uzbekistan tour operators draw tourists’ attention to fact that high facade’s walls demonstrate us illusion that building is two-storey, although in actuality it has only one floor. Outer frontage decor of madrassa is quite simple: majolic tiles, modest cladding and corner turrets, including a few small domes. On cells windows there are still lattice, made of clay.
