This is the largest port city in Turkmenistan, located on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

Until 1993, the city was called Krasnogorsk, after which it was decided to rename it Turkmenbashi in honor of the first president – Turkmenbashi Saparmurat Niyazov.

90% of the city’s population consists of the indigenous population, 6% are Russians, the rest includes Ukrainians, Turks, Uzbeks and Kazakhs. The state language predominates in Turkmenbashi, that is, Turkmen, the majority of the population professes Islam, a separate confession – Christians.

This settlement is developing due to the oil refining industry. There is a whole complex of enterprises engaged in the processing of oil and other related natural resources.

In addition, the largest ship repair yard in Central Asia is located in Turkmenbashi.

The city is connected to the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, via a ferry.

On the territory of Turkmenbashi there is also a huge resort area “Avaza”, which includes hotel complexes, holiday homes, entertainment venues, gaming clubs. This type of recreation on the shores of the Caspian Sea will be interesting for both young people and families with children.
