The city has marvelous ancient history as was established many centuries ago but conquered by many significant rulers including Alexander the Great, which built defenses around. Old town has been important transportation hub both connected Fergana and Samarkand as situated on great Silk Road trips. Later it was overcome then ruined by Genghis Khan army. Subsequently, town recovered and became remarkable northern center.
Today, contemporary Khujand has airport featuring railway station so it can receive people from all over the world. Beautiful nature with mountains encircle town situated on river Syr-Darya. Large water reservoir located not far from river. This place becomes very popular among local people either travelers, who like fishing or swimming.
Nowadays, city stays culture or science midpoint because there are several museums, theaters, university. Moreover, here you can see well known fortress, mosque, ancient mausoleum, which was build long time ago.
Anyway, this place became worth seeing with tourists during their Central Asia tours. They will be able to see many interesting things either breath fresh mountain air.
