The construction of the airport began in 1924. In 1929, the new airport was named Stalinabad. As the years changed, its appearance also changed and was reconstructed several times.
Dushanbe airfield belongs to class “B” and has an ICAO code name – 4D. And this means that it can receive on its field such aircraft as B-737, A-310, B-767, Il-76, Il-62, Tu-154. In addition, all light aircraft and any helicopters.
Flights to Moscow, Tashkent, Bishkek, Urumqi, Kabul, Vnukovo, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Perm, Alma-Ata, Orenburg, Sochi, Surgut and Kazan operate from here.
