Kyrgyzstan –the land of nomads

Kyrgyzstan is a small mountainous country in the centre of the Asian continent, where high mountains occupy 93% of the territory. Almost all the area has been settled from time immemorial. The Kyrgyz, who have preserved their ancient traditions right up till the present, live in the unity with nature. Every summer the Kyrgyz people drive their cattle to the natural pastures, called “jailoo”, situated up in the mountains. The nomadic style of life has determined that “the yurt” is a most comfortable and economic dwelling, which is suitable for rapid assembly and transportation. On our tour you will have a chance to live in it, to understand how safe and comfortable it is and to experience its charm. And have you ever listened to the do-major symphony performed by a boiling teapot? You will not only see, but you will also experience this poetry by having lived for several days on the mountain pastures jailoo. Have you ever baked bread in the open air on a temporary stove made of two frying pans or one copper? Here, you may try to do so. Season : May – mid September  

Day 1
BISHKEK /CHON-KEMIN (160 km, 2 hours of driving) Arrival in Bishkek (the old name is Frunze), the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Transfer to Hotel. After rest transfer to Chon-Kemin. The road will go along the beautiful gorge Boom. On the way a visit to Burana Tower (XI c), that is a place on the Great Silk Road. After arrival accommodation in the mountainous Guest House “Ashu”. You can have a walk in the village; observe the life of the local people. Dinner and overnight in the Guest House. (Meal B and D) (Altitude in Bishkek is 800 meters above the sea level, Chon-Kemin is 1400 meters above the sea level)
Day 2
CHON-KEMIN /KARAKOL (about 400 km, 7- 8 hours of driving) After breakfast it is possible to have a horse riding in the nearest gorge, or you can just have a walk in the gorge full of singing birds. Transfer to Karakol along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul lake, that is the second largest mountainous lake in the world on the altitude of 1607 meters. On the way it is possible to make stops and you can have a swim. After arrival to Karakol accommodation in the hotel. Dinner in the local restaurant/local family (Meal B and D) (Altitude in Chon-Kemin is 1400 meters above the sea level, altitude in Karakol is 1700 meters above the sea level)
Day 3
KARAKOL/ALTYN ARASHAN/KARAKOL (32 km one way) Breakfast. If you are in Karakol on Sunday – a visit of Sunday animal market. For other days of the week we can visit the bazaar. Transfer to Altyn-Arashan resort, which is situated 2450 m above sea level. You will never be able to forget the sight of the snow on Peak Palatka (Tent) 5260 m. Enjoy hot springs. Picnic for lunch. Transfer to Karakol town (20 km). Accommodation in the hotel. Dinner in the local restaurant/local family.  (Meal B and D) (Altitude in Karakol is 1700 meters above the sea level, in Altyn Arashan is 2600 meters above the sea level)
Day 4
KARAKOL / TOSOR (120 km)

  1. Breakfast. Visiting an Old Russian Orthodox Church and Mosque in Dungan style. Transfer to Jety-Oguz gorge (40 km). A walk in the gorge. Later transfer to Tosor along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake. Dinner and overnight in the yurt on the shore of the lake. (Meal B/-/D)

(Altitude in Karakol is 1700 meters above the sea level, in Tosor is 1600 meters above the sea level)

Day 5
TOSOR / KOCHKOR (280 km, 4-5 hours of driving) Breakfast. Transfer to Kochkor (270 km). You will go along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake. It is possible to make stops on the way and rest on the shore. Optionally eagle hunting show in Bokonbaevo village on the way. Family run accommodation. Dinner in the family with folklore.  (Meal B-D) (Altitude in Jety Oguz is 2200 meters above the sea level,  altitude in Kochkor is 1800 meters above the sea level) 
Day 6
KOCHKOR / BISHKEK (250 km, 4 hours of driving) Breakfast. Visit on the felt carpet workshop organized by women community group Altyn-Kol, where you can not only buy souvenirs but, produce them yourself. Transfer to Bishkek for overnight. Farewell dinner in the local restaurant. Overnight in the hotel.  . (Meal B -D)
Day 7
BISHKEK Breakfast. Transfer to airport. (Meal B)
