Day 2 Tashkent - Samarkand

Early breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the train station. Transfer by train to Samarkand. Departure at 8:00, Arrival at 10:08. Meeting with the guide. Beginning of the introductory tour.

Samarkand, one of the oldest cities in the world, is considered the main pearl of the East. Samarkand was the favorite city of the great Tamerlane. It is interesting that a small planet, number 210271, is named after Samarkand. We invite you to visit: Registan Square, which includes the Sher-Dor Madrasah, the Tillya-Kori Madrasah, the Ulugbek Madrasah, the ancient settlement of Afrosiab, the Shakhi-Zinda memorial (14-15th century). Then we invite you to lunch.

Check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, you will continue your tour of Samarkand: you will visit the Bibi-Khanym Mosque (the mosque was built by the great Temur for his beloved wife Bibi Khanym in the 14th century), the Ulugbek Observatory, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening, you will have a night visit to the Gur Emir Mausoleum – the burial place of the great Amir Temur and his family. The ensemble includes a khanaqo and a madrasah, an iwan courtyard with high walls, a portal and four minarets. The portal is amazingly beautiful: it is decorated with the technique of inlaid mosaic. The patterns were made by the master Mahmud Isfahani. The outer dome of the portal is unique – it is crowned with a gold coating – kubba. The construction scheme is traditional for those years: a drum in the form of a cylinder, a prism of the base and a large dome.

Day 3 : Samarkand - Karshi

Breakfast at the hotel. Then you will travel by car from Samarkand to Karshi (it will take 2.5 hours).

Karshi is located on the Kashkadarya River, next to which lies the Pamir-Altai mountain system. The city was founded in 1318 by Khan Kebek. Translated from Mongolian, “Karshi” means “palace”. Karshi has a unique history associated with the reign of the great Tamerlane, the reign of the Bukhara khans, and the reign of the Samanid dynasty. At the moment, Karshi resembles an oasis with a huge number of beautiful gardens.

We suggest you visit the ancient settlement of Yerkurgan in the first half of the day, which was founded in the 9th century BC. After visiting this attraction, we suggest making a stop for lunch. After the lunch break, you will find an ancient educational institution for women – the Odina Madrasah, built in the 16th century. Not far from this madrasah there are other famous educational centers: the madrasahs of Khoja Kurban, Abdulaziz, Kylychbek (also built in the 16th century).

We also suggest you visit the famous Karshi bridge, which was built in the 16th century, and the Kok-Gumbaz mosque built on the foundation of the Namazgokh mosque. Then we suggest you go to dinner.
