HD 039 – Turkmenistan Tour (5 Days)

Today right after breakfast say good-bye to Uzbekistan and make our way to Turkmenistan border Alat/Farap.  Upon arrival to the border point go through custom procedures and continue drive to Mary province about 4 hrs. (270km), the group stop for a lunch at 12pm at the local restaurant of Turkmenabad. In the afternoon visit Ancient Merv – Merv was located at the road crossing of the Great Silk Road and quickly became one of the largest and biggest cities of the ancient world and was one of the most important capitals of Islam along with Baghdad, Cairo and Damascus. Guided tour: Gyz Gala, Erk Gala, Soltan Gala, Soltan Sanjar Mausoleum, Ibn Zeid Mausoleum.
Continue driving to Mary city accommodate at the hotel and dinner at the local restaurant.
Overnight at the hotel.

City Tour– Museum of History in MAry – Ashgabat
Early morning visit green market- to taste traditional food, visit National History and Ethnology Museum, Gurbanguly Hajji Mosque.
Hotel check out. Drive to Ashgabat city 4,5/5 hours. Visit Lenin’s square, Russian Market. An Evening city tour.
Dinner at the local restaurant. Hotel accommodation and overnight.

Tour starts to visit – an impressive Ertoghrul Ghazi mosque, the Monument of Independence, an “Old Nisa” – The Sanctuary of Parthian Kings, Nisa was the capital of Parthian Empire that lasted 600 years and was greatest enemy of Rome Empire and UNESCO site. Continue to “Ruhy” Mosque and Turkmenistan’s first Presidents mausoleum in “Gypchak” village to The National Museum of History and Arch of Neutrality.
Dinner at the local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Visit Akhal-Teke farm, to ride and meet with horses. Have a tea break.   Lunch time.
Continue to the Water, Clay and Gas Crater, which is located to the North of Ashgabat. In the evening, observe the spectacular and fascinating view of Gas crater. Dinner time, overnight it tent under star sky.

After breakfast, drive to Kone-Urgench at 07:00 in the morning, takes nearly 4 hours. Architectural monuments of Kone-Urgench, Capital of Khorezm in X-XII centuries; Mausoleum of Najm al-Din al-Kubra, Tyurabek Khanum, Il-Arslan, Tekesh Ibn Hadzhibey, the highest minaret in Central Asia Kutlyg Timur. Lunch at local restaurant in Kone-Urgench. Transfer to Dhashoguz/Shawat border, end of the tour.
