State Architecture and Art Museum of the city of Bukhara

State Architectural Museum is located in Bukhara city on Afrosiab Street, 2. More than 100 thousand exhibits are collected in it that tell visitors about the rich cultural life and the great heritage of the Uzbek people and Uzbekistan. Approaching the celebration of the centenary of its foundation, which will be held in 2022, the museum-reserve is simply amazing by the objects collected over an entire era. Here you can see the garments with gold-embroidered decorations, peculiar only to the true artisans of Bukhara. Also you can endlessly admire ganch (stucco) carving, engraving on copper and brass, decoration, money, household items, books, old maps, splendid statues, art works, passing from generation to generation. The only day when the museum is closed is Wednesday.

 

Today, after the assignment of the title of the state museum, the reserve has been divided into six sections. In total the Museum presents 18 permanently functioning exhibitions, which take place not only within the walls of the building itself, but also in other architectural monuments of Bukhara. By visiting them, guests can learn about many interesting things. For example, in the Ark Citadel visitors get acquainted with numismatics, nature and the origins of Bukhara writing. At the residence of the emirs of Bukhara Sitorai Mohi Khosa guests can see the items of arts and crafts, and in the house Faizullah Khodjaev they can learn about the history of the merchant family. Also, there are expositions telling about key historical events taking place in Bukhara in the medieval Kukeldash Madrasa, in the Hanako of Nadir Divanbegi, in the carpet museum, located in Magoki-Attori Mosque, Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum and other museums.
