The southwestern part of Kyrgyzstan became the location of the village of Batken, which includes four mountainous territories. The area is located on average at an altitude of 400 to 5000 meters. This area became an independent region in 1999.
The central settlement and cultural center is Betken. Currently, there are a number of administrative areas here, which legally belong to neighboring states: Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The process of administrative-territorial division was carried out under Joseph Stalin, who gave the order to determine the existing borders of the states. In addition to these territories of neighboring countries, there are seven more enclave areas here.
According to ethnographers and tour operators in Kyrgyzstan, this territory cannot be considered popular, as few people know about the natural and cultural diversity here. The territory is surrounded by a number of health resorts. Only local travelers visit them every year. In addition, there are remains of numerous ancient settlements here that may be of interest to the world community.
