Hazret-Hyzr mosque

Situated in the southern slope of the Afrasiab hills called Hazret-Hyzr mosque considers as an Islamic saint everlasting pilgrim, not far from the main bazaar. Old men tells legends about Hazret-Hyzr that he helped to the patron of Samarqand Kusam-ibn-Abbes with escaping and becoming undying. Once, there was a pagan shrine possessing idols that were cracked in the first years of Islam. The church was turned into the mosque. Hazret-Hyzr was admired as a holy providing richness and luck in far trips and trade. The mosque that nowadays stands on was founded on the principles of medieval foundations in 1855. The interior was decortated by divided ganch and multicolor paintings on the ceiling.
