One of these is the National Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Turkmenistan.
Unique in many ways, the museum complex
The first thing they see many tourists coming here, so this is the famous marble hall. Abundant use of rare earth elements, expensive materials and luxurious interior has helped not only the museum, but also to other buildings in Turkmenistan to become permanent residents of the Guinness World Records.
National Museum of the National Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan can be safely attributed to the list of the largest such structures that have emerged on the map the country since independence. It opened its doors to the public museum, located on the street Archabilskoy, in November 1998. In the vicinity of the museum is the largest flagpole in the world.
Features of the construction of the museum complex
Today the museum, which occupies fifteen thousand square meters, consists of three floors and several buildings. Above the central part of the museum architects decided to establish a blue dome, having sixteen edges. This figure was chosen by chance, because it was founded by 16 states ancestors of Turkmens. At the base of the dome of the above there are several columns, the number of which is five regions of Turkmenistan.
Architects used exclusively national motifs in the construction of the complex, which is largely due to its functional purpose. As decorative materials, it was decided to use:
- Granite from Finland ;
- Valuable species of wood ;
- Bronze in ;
- Tinted glass windows ;
- Turkish facing materials ;
- Metal lattice openwork type ;
- Decorative moldings.
In mid-2009, the current draft of the museum has undergone a slight change. Local authorities have decided to attach two additional housing:
- The first of these was the location of the National Museum of History and Ethnography of the country. Where you can personally meet with many rare artifacts: carpets, animal bones, tools, rare costumes, decorations and so on. Also, there are various statues of ancient gods and mythical animals. In the hall you can see the fragments of the meteorite that fell on the territory of Turkmenistan, a few years ago;
- The second case allows to get acquainted with the exposition of the Museum of the President of Turkmenistan. Here are not only the personal belongings of the head of state, but also the many gifts he received from representatives of foreign states.
Two new buildings were constructed in a similar style to the main building, so now only the direct builders of new buildings can confidently say which parts of the complex appeared later than others. For added convenience, travelers all three buildings of the museum are connected by an open gallery with a colonnade.
The modern infrastructure of the National Museum

All branches work throughout the week, except Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.
