Railway Station of Samarkand

The process of active construction of railroads dates back to the late 19th century, when the country was part of the Russian Empire. Cultural, historical and economic importance of Samarkand predetermined the fact of appearance of the city’s own railway station. Construction of the first station in Samarkand began in the late XIX century. In 1888 a bridge across the Amu Darya was opened, thanks to which, Samarkand became another important stopping point in the Trans-Caspian railway.

 

Today Samarkand railway station is a major transportation hub, serving thousands of passengers, tons of various cargoes. Modern transport complex is equipped with quality equipment, offering an adequate level of comfort and complete safety of the passengers.
