Spring New Year – Navruz Holiday

Tashkent – Samarkand – Bukhara – Tashkent

The most ancient national holiday Navruz (in translation with Persian Navruz designates “new day”) which is celebrated on March, 21st, is considered the beginning of new year. As is known, March 21st is a day a spring equinox. Day length and nights is identical – 12 hours. In the beginning of this holiday many Uzbek families prepare for national dishes such as Sumalak, Halim, Somsa from plant, Plov and others. These Uzbek dishes contain many vitamin substances which are useful to a human body.

With the obtaining of the country’s independence ancient customs and traditions of Uzbek people have revived, holiday Navruz also has been restored, and celebrating has got new scope and depth. It became a national holiday of friendship, unification, brotherhood of all people. In the bright dramatized representations of philosophic and poetic judgment of Navruz, it places in national history reveals. Now Navruz is celebrating annually in a grand manner.

Day 1 Tashkent (March 17)

The tour is planned to start from the morning in Tashkent International Airport, where you will be met by our guide and taken to the hotel for accommodation.

In the afternoon sightseeing tour by coach -take place in Tashkent: visit The Khast Imam complex (16c), the library of Koran and other old manuscripts, Kukeldash Madrasa (16c), The local market “Chorsu”, The Museum of Applied Arts

Day 2 Tashkent – Bukhara (March 18)

Day 3 Bukhara – Gidjuvan – Samarkand (March 19)

08:00  Drive to Gidjuvan (46 km, 50 min)

09:00  Visit Center of Gidjduvan school of potters. The owner of the center is the famous ceramist of Uzbekistan – Alisher Narzullaev, who is one of the most known and recognized masters of ceramics of modern Uzbekistan

The center offers:

– Tour of the workshops (ceramic embroidery) with the display technology

– Master Classes of ceramic and embroidery

– Visit the Ceramic Museum. Works of 5-generation

– Visit the gallery of ceramics

–  Master class of cooking traditional Gijduvan bread

11:30  Lunch at Alisher Narzullaev’s guest house

12:30  Continue drive to Samarkand (232 km, 3 h 15m)

16:00  Arriving in Samarkand. Check in to the hotel

18:30-19.00  Dinner at national restaurant Option: visiting wine tasting and museum of wine. Transfer to the domestic airport

Day 4 Samarkand (March 20)

08:00  Breakfast at the hotel

09:00  City tour of Samarkand: visit Ulugbek Observatory , Afrosiab museum, Gur-Emir Mousoleum

13:00  Lunch at national restaurant

14:00  Continue city tour: Shakhi Zinda Mausoleums, Paper factory, where you can see how masters revive an ancient tradition of making paper based on old Samarkand technologies.

17:00  Visit The theater of historical costume “El-Merosi”

Day 5 Samarkand (March 21)

08:00 Breakfast at the hotel

11:00 Participation in the Navruz celebration on Registan square (Oriental New Year, which is celebrated on 21st of March) in Mahallya (local community) including preparation of the traditional foods “Sumalyak”” and “Khalisa”, feast, experience local customs, traditions and celebration of Navruz with local people. After celebrating visit Bibi Khanum Mosque, then shopping at Siab Bazaar Local market

Day 6 Samarkand – Urgut – Tashkent (March 22)

08:00  Breakfast at the hotel

09:00  Drive to Urgut (Urgut has the largest market in the Samarkand region selling traditional handicrafts, both old and new, particularly suzanne, carpets, jewels, metalwork and ceramics. The market also has smithies, tin workshops and stalls selling locally produced tea sets, clothes and traditional leather boots.)Full day shopping in bazaar

16:00  Drive back to Samarkand

17:00  Transfer to railway station

19:00  Departure to Tashkent by train “Afrosiab”Arrival in Tashkent. Transfer to the hotel

Day 7 Tashkent (March 23)

10:00  SS in Tashkent: Visit Amir Temur Square, Abul Kasim MasdasaKhast-Imom Complex with Barakhan Medresah . Shopping at fruit market and Chor-zu bazaar
Transfer to airport.  Departure to home
