ANCIENT BUKHARA BATHHOUSE “HAMMAM BOZORI KORD“

In the oldest Bukhara bathhouse, known as Hammam Bozori Kord one can touch the ancient traditions of bathhouse business by learning the secrets and details of it. The history of the hammam dates back to the 14th century, but to the present day, it preserves the full depth of knowledge, acquired for many centuries by Bukhara ancestors. The only day that the hammam is closed to its numerous visitors is Tuesday. On any other day one can enjoy the age-old traditions from 7 am to 15.00 pm

For bathing visitors are provided with clean towels, comfortable sandals that will protect your feet from hot and slippery tiles and lungi, special trunks. After bathing, guests are invited to drink scented tea. Bathing can be combined with massage, a pleasant and useful procedure. The guest spends some time in the steam room, while his body steams out, and then the bath attendant accompanies the visitor into the massage room, advising how best to get on the bed in order to get the full pleasure of a massage by a professional massager for 20-30 minutes. It is important not to be afraid when the massager sits or stands on the back of a guest, as this is one of the main features of Bukhara art of massage

You can also combine massage (in two stages) and bathing. In this case a visitor is washed with soap after the usual massage and then the attendant continues a relaxing massage on a soaped body and after bathes the guest with cool water. Very popular is a herbal massage, as its healing properties help to release the body from ailments, and the head from heavy thoughts.

In the evening, one can visit the hammam only by making reservations beforehand. Also, women have the right to invite for all procedures a professional woman-massager, if there is a constraint on the service of a massager man.
