MUSEUM OF MEMORY OF ULUGBEK

In Samarkand on Tashkent street there is a Museum of the memory of the great Muhammad Taragai, better known as Ulugbek. Born in the family of the youngest son of Timur – Shahrukh, the boy was transferred to education for older relatives, so that the excessive love of parents did not spoil the growing Timurid prince. His grandfather constantly took the boy on hikes, after which legends were composed, but Ulugbek did not participate in the battles, almost all the time being in the convoys under supervision, in order to properly educate and educate.

From an early age, the boy developed one distinguishing feature, not characteristic of other princes – he easily learned different sciences, experiencing a huge interest in them. The decisive role in the election of the science of astronomy was played by the ruins of an ancient observatory, to which Timur’s army stumbled during a march through the city of Maragh. When several years passed since the death of the great grandfather, Ulugbek’s father made the final decision – Ulugbek will become the ruler of Maverannahr.

During the reign of the scientist, the era of the Eastern Renaissance passes, after all, being a scientist, the ruler himself tried to train as many people as possible, making education the main focus. At the same time, the children’s dream of Ulugbek comes true – its observatory is being built, in which it subsequently creates a catalog of the starry sky. Working with famous astronomers, Ulugbek achieved that his name came to the same level as such luminaries as Copernicus, Galileo and Ptolemy.

Today, around the collapsed observatory, under the leadership of the Uzbek artist A.I. Askarov and members of the art academy, a museum was created in which the exhibits of the great man’s rule, Ulugbek, were collected, and the situation in which the scientist lived was restored.
