Brazilian cuisine is a real paradise for meat eaters. Therefore, it is not surprising that one of the gastronomic attractions of the Armenian capital is a restaurant that prepares classic dishes of this distant Latin American country. Built not far from the famous hotels of Armenia, it will not take long to find. Another well-known credo of Brazilian restaurants around the world is called “eat meat until you hiccup.” Anyone who has ever visited such an establishment still has their eyes glazed over with delight and sacred horror at the memory of this sweet torture. Here, at the entrance, you only need to pay a certain amount, and the amount eaten depends solely on the capabilities of your stomach. There is no point in talking about the quality of the dishes offered here, you have to try it and admire it. The Pioneer Restaurant is a real carnival of taste. So there is no need to plan a trip to Brazil, it is enough to fly with Uzbekistan Airways to Yerevan.
Local chefs are especially passionate about choosing products for cooking. Only high-quality and exceptionally fresh meat from trusted suppliers, as well as vegetables and fruits grown on farms, can get into their caring and skillful hands. In order for the meat to be well marinated, and after cooking it remains juicy and, most importantly, healthy, the chefs use only special cooking methods. Moreover, they all have undergone excellent training, and know how to cook meat, and most importantly, in the Brazilian style.
Preparing yourself for the feat of eating meat, you can even skip lunch. Here you will definitely be full. The price of the visit includes not only unlimited access to meat dishes and other delicacies, but also soft drinks. But you will have to pay extra for the opportunity to wash down all these delights with a glass of wine or a glass of beer. The main decoration of the table will be churrasco-rodizio. This is a special dish, which includes fourteen different dishes, and not necessarily meat. The meat used is different parts of pork (fillet, ribs and shashlik from a suckling pig), lamb and beef (fillet and bull hump), chicken (hearts) and much more. Moreover, each meat is seasoned with special spices and served with a special sauce. Veal fillet is usually eaten with parmesan here. Only a holiday in Uzbekistan can treat you to such a meat feast.
You won’t have to push in front of the buffet, hoping to get a tastier piece. Just sit down at your table and the delicacies will float to you on mysteriously shimmering metal skewers, hot and aromatic. All you have to do is nod graciously, holding a green card with the inscription in English “Yes, thank you” at the ready. If you feel that you are not ready to swallow another bite, take the red “No, thank you” and, squinting contentedly, enjoy digestion.
Of course, “Pioneer” is first and foremost the kingdom of meat eaters, but you can also find vegetarian dishes here. The most delicious ones include grilled pineapple and cheese bread.
To make the digestion process easier and more enjoyable, you can order wine as an accompaniment to your meal (otherwise, eating large quantities of meat without greens or alcohol can be a serious test for your body). There is an excellent list of tart drinks, where you can find bottles from France, Argentina, Italy, Chile or Armenia.
Another option is to prefer salads to alcohol. For a little less money, you can join the buffet, which seems to have collected all possible snacks in the world. All this gastronomic bacchanalia takes place to the calm and soothing sounds of music. During the day, classic lounge music is played here on record – nothing will distract you from the calm absorption of culinary delights. In the evening, spacious but cozy halls are filled with the rhythms of Latin American and Spanish music, or smooth jazz melodies. What is especially nice is that professional musicians play. So, in addition to gastronomic pleasures, you can also enjoy the sounds that caress the ear.
The halls are equipped with a ventilation system, as well as air conditioners with the latest technology, otherwise you could go crazy from the spicy and varied appetizing aromas. But this is also to the advantage of lovers of tobacco products, as well as their ardent opponents. That is, the former can smoke, and the latter are not irritated.
The restaurant is also famous for its excellent service. Tour operators in Armenia rank it among the most luxurious in this regard. Local waiters are real Brazilian seniors who proudly serve brilliant masterpieces of Brazilian cuisine. At the same time, they are always friendly and caring, and are always ready to help guests in any way they can.
People like to celebrate family holidays and organize corporate events at the Pioneer. It is also suitable for a modest family celebration. Although this is not the best place for a romantic date. Any passion will sleep soundly
A corner of amazing Japanese culture right in the center of Yerevan is a restaurant with the sonorous name “Samurai”. This establishment has managed to embody all the uniqueness and originality of the traditions and customs of the Land of the Rising Sun. All the diversity of the complex set of rules that the Japanese follow during the preparation and serving of exotic dishes is also observed in the “Samurai” sen. The establishment itself appeared about ten years ago and still manages to maintain high quality standards, without losing an ounce of charm and attractiveness. A short flight on Uzbek airlines to Yerevan, and you are already enjoying the delights of Eastern culture.
One of the strictest laws in Japanese cuisine is the use of only fresh and raw products. No canned food. This, of course, does not make the life of the cooks at Samurai any easier. For example, some of the ingredients that are hard to find in Yerevan, seafood and some types of fish, are delivered here by plane from Moscow, and these are exclusively live specimens, transported in special containers with ice. If the chef has even a shadow of a doubt about the freshness and quality of the product, it is simply not used in the preparation.
The sushi bar is also famous for its rolls. Moreover, nori seaweed is used here not only in dried form, but also fried. The cooks who come from the Philippines work behind the stove, as well as Armenian wizards who have been trained by Japanese masters, and therefore know all the little secrets of the cuisine of the Land of the Rising Sun. If you want to paint your tour of Armenia with an exquisite ligature of complex hieroglyphs, include a visit to Samurai in your program.
As in many expensive Japanese restaurants, the chef conjures up dishes right before your eyes, and some of the dishes are deftly moved to your plate directly from the stove. It is not only very tasty, but also surprisingly picturesque, every movement of the masters is honed and brought to perfection, and the process itself is in many ways reminiscent of a professional show.
If you could not find anything interesting on the menu, you can share your own recipe with the chef, and if all the necessary ingredients are available, they will be happy to prepare the desired dish for you.
Over the years of the restaurant’s existence, certain adjustments have been made to the menu, they are constantly looking for new interesting recipes for dishes that could pamper visitors. One thing remains unchanged – soups, salads, hot and cold appetizers, main courses and desserts are always present here. In addition to purely Japanese delicacies, they also prepare shashlik here, and from different types of meat, but paying tribute to the specificity of the restaurant, even these dishes are usually served with Japanese sauces such as teriyaki and tapaniaki. And in order to preserve the freshness and brightness of the taste of each dish, before each new course, guests are presented with slices of fresh ginger. It is believed that it sharpens perception, taking away the aftertaste of the previous dish.
“Samurai” is also famous for its tea ceremonies. A special room with a low doorway is allocated for this event. This is another Japanese tradition, clearly hinting that there is no place for pride within these walls, as well as social differences; before the tea ceremony, everyone must undergo a special rite of humility. During the process of drinking tea, and “Samurai” is the only place in Yerevan where you can taste the rare Japanese variety of Matcha, it is customary to avoid topics related to everyday life or material values. These are hours devoted to highly spiritual conversations, or meaningful silence. Even if you are not a fan of Japanese culture, it is worth experiencing some of its unique phenomena at least once.
In “Samurai” you can arrange a festive event dedicated to some family celebration or business occasion. Moreover, such an event will be remembered for a lifetime, since when organizing the restaurant, they use some of the traditions and customs of the Land of the Rising Sun. For example, invitations are written on fans, instead of the usual and slightly boring competitions, Japanese quizzes are held here, and guests who come to the birthday party are given proverbs containing advice.
The bar at Samurai, in addition to the usual alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, offers such exotics as acai and choya – these are exclusively Japanese drinks.
Feeling that you are unable to get out anywhere after a busy day, this does not mean that you are automatically deprived of Japanese delicacies. Samurai is ready to deliver any set of dishes you choose to your hotel in Armenia, and, what is especially pleasant, will do it with purely Japanese punctuality and precision – in just half an hour you will receive the coveted dishes.
The restaurant opens its doors exactly at noon and closes them at midnight.
